Hoje vamos aprender o uso da palavra to como preposição e também como infinitivo do verbo.

Estamos aprendendo as 100 palavras mais usadas na lingua inglesa. De acordo com o livro The Reading Teachers Book of Lists, Third Edition as primeiras 25 palavras dessa lista representam aproximadamente um terço de todo o material escrito em inglês, e as cem que estamos aprendendo representam aproximadamente metade. Vamos aprender todas e estaremos bem encaminhados no domínio da língua inglesa.

Hi, Tim.
I enjoyed when you said that there isn’t basic or intermediary English in the real life. I guess speaking is like driving a car on the road. If you’re driving your car on the road, the others drivers don’t want to know if you’re a beginner or a professional driver, you’re just another driver and they put you constantly to the proof.

Hello Tim, You tell us that you are going to send the mini-podcast “Inglês Básico Todos os Dias” (every other day). I’d like to kow whether you’ll send the Intemediate/Advanced every other day too or every day as you were doing. Of course I will listen to both, because we always learn something that we didn’t know when we are reviwing basic English, even if you are Intermediate as I think I am.

  As you already know, you always need to learn prepositions in context. Just start paying attention to different prepositions used in different sentences, and learn them one at a time.

  Olá Roxane. “Grocery store” é o termo genérico. “Supermarkets” são “grocery stores” grandes. Deu para entender?

Algumas frases vejo “I’m going to…” e outras “I’m going to the…”

ex: I’m going to church
I’m going to the class.

Há alguma regra/diferença para usar ou não usar o “THE” ?

  Hello, Tiago! Faça o seguinte: Não use “the” com church, home, downtown. Não sei dizer exatamente por que no momento. Talvez seja porque são lugares muito comuns e o “downtown” já tem a preposição “down” no nome.

  Hi, Hercília. You did great! One little correction… In English, we usually say: “I’m going home” (not “to home”). With OTHER words we say, “I’m going to the mall”; “I’m going to your house”, etc.; but with home, we say: “I’m going home”. Don’t ask me why! 😀
