What’s the difference between pick up and fetch?
Could I say, I have to fetch my costume at the shop instead of I need to pick up my costume at the shop?
“Fetch” usually means to go and get something and bring it back. So, yes, you can use this verb, too. It is more common in British English, though. I (American) mostly use “fetch” when I throw a ball to my dog. But I might use it in other situations sometimes, just to vary.
