Hi Tm!
Could you please shed light on me the meaning remodel and refurbish?
Hi, Vera. They are similar terms, but with slightly different meanings. Check out this answer I found in a forum:
Refurbish: making functional again, but typically not considered as good as it once was. Often used for products and electronics: “The new smart phone costs $500 but you can get a refurbished one for $400.”
Renovate: to make new or up to date. Updating and making better than it was before. Often used for buildings and spaces: “The building was renovated: they got rid of the old wallpaper, cleaned it up, and put in electric lighting.”
Remodel: to change something even if it didn’t need changing. It doesn’t necessarily mean it makes it better or more functional. If it makes something better, it’s more about preference than functionality. Used for homes often. “We decided to remodel our home because we needed a change of scenery.”
