I think that another nice translation for this expression in Portuguese in some sentences, especially the first one talking about the pet, would be “por si só”
Great translation Julio, “por si só” it works with more than half of the above sentences.
That’s a great option! Use it whenever you can.

Yes! You remembered it from the story! Very good!

Hi Tim. Long time no talk. I hope you’re doing well. This is such an amazing tip, I really like it. By the way, I think that perhaps in 06:45 a good translation would be …”mas como era esperado”…but as it is, we will be lucky to finish it by eight. Times goes by, but The Battets are still the best! Greetings from Carrijo family. 🙂
Hey, Anderson! Thank you for stopping by! It’s always great to see you here! You’ve been with us for a long time! Where are you living now? (if you don’t mind saying) Thank you for the option. I’m not sure if that’s the best translation, though. The person is saying, “the ways things ARE, it seems we won’t be finished until 8”; not “as was expected”. See if we can come up with another option…
Don’t buy more shoes. You already have enough as it is.
Tell that to my wife! 😀 (Just kidding. She’s pretty frugal.)
Oh my gosh! Translation is always a challenge, isn’t it? I guess you’re right Tim. I’ll let you know if I come up with something better 😉 Well, I was living in Franca-SP,17 years ago, when we “first met” (LOL), then in 2013 all my family, moved to California, we stayed there for 2 years, wonderful experience, Tim! Now, Tatiana and I have 2 children, we’ve been happily living here in Campinas for the past 6 years, it’s kinda close to the D.Pedro mall. Once again, my old friend, keep up this priceless work, you guys are the BEST ever, also next time you’re in this neck of the woods, please stop by for a cup of coffee! You are my guest! 😉
Hey! We go way back! 😀 Thank you for catching me up with all that has been going on! What a nice family you have! And thank you so much for the invitation! Maybe after this pandemic is over we could meet one day at D. Pedro mall! We like to go there sometimes!
I can tell you’re stressed out enough as it is.
I’m doing a hard work on my English but it’s not good enough as it is .
( Am I right ? )
Hi, Lucy. The first sentence is correct. The second one is correct, but it has a slightly different meaning. Saying it in the negative like that, you are saying. “Não está bom o suficiente do jeito que está.”
Oi Tim, tudo bem? Creio que esse “as it is” pode ser traduzido também como “por natureza”
Ela já é agitada por natureza.
Ela já tem o ego inflado, por natureza.
Alias…
