      I’m not gonna be able to go to the International Conference on the Management of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) in Industry 2020. It will be in Viena, on October 19.

    Hi Tim,

    Does the expression “make it” have the same meaning as “be able to”?

    When can I use “I can make it” and I am able to”? Is there any rule?

      “make it” is an informal way of saying “conseguir chegar”.

      I can’t make it to the party. [não vai dar para chegar à festa]
      I’m not going to be able to be at/go to the party. [não vou poder estar na/ir para a festa]

    Question: Várias vezes o “nós não vamos conseguir” é o “We’re not gonna make it”. Isso pode sempre substituir a expressão de hoje ou é usado em csos específicos?

      I hope things will be a little calmer at the end of the year; but we probably won’t go back to normal until next year when they hopefully come out with a vaccine.
